Monday, June 29, 6pm: StoryTree Kick off the reading program with special guest Jools Skeet for a storytelling performance via Zoom. Jools is an artist and storyteller, and will use some surprise props and YOUR imaginations to tell a story and share a craft. Join us on Zoom to imagine our own story! Information on joining the Zoom meeting will be emailed to all Summer Reading participants by June 28.
Thursday, July 9, 6:30 pm: Story Scavenger Hunt Stories are all around us! Your challenge for this week is to find the items in a Scavenger hunt list, which will be posted online June 29. Then join us online to use the found items to imagine our own story. Will it be a fairy tale? A wild adventure? A mystery? You decide! The meeting link will be emailed to participants by July 9th.
Thursday, July 16, 6:30 pm: Fairy Tale STEM Challenges Make an imagined story come to life by building fairy tale homes! Can your house withstand the Big Bad Wolf’s huffs and puffs? Can you get into Rapunzel’s tower? Put your engineering skills to the test with this week’s challenges Spend the week building then join us online to share your creations! Materials will be available via curbside pickup at the library.
Thursday, July 23, 6:30 pm: Storywalk Visit the Pocket Park between July 13 and 27 to enjoy nature and read Mole Music, then help us create our very own community-illustrated storywalk book! Join us online to read Jack and the Beanstalk and get your own section of the story to illustrate. Work with your family to illustrate the page, then visit the park next week to see everyone’s work put together!
MONDAY, July 27, 6:30 pm, Swing Peepers, LIVE on the Common We’ve imagined, found, built, and illustrated our stories this summer. Now it’s time to sing and dance a few more stories! Join us at the Common for a socially-distanced concert with the Swing Peepers! Please wear masks and practice social distancing. Space will be limited, so register ahead by calling the library at (802) 765-4037. (Rain date: August 3rd)
Thursday, August 6, 6:30 pm: Story Book Picnic Celebrate the end of summer reading by dressing up as your favorite book character and trying some storybook-inspired recipes! Join us on the library lawn for feasting and merrymaking, and a bit more imagining and storytelling!
